EPISODE 9

 

Ever since ekaette and I kick started our serious relationship, it was all shades of blossomness for me.

 

Ekaette and I got so close to the extent our relationship was now known to some of the students in the lodge, including Kenneth.

 

I had wanted to keep my relationship with ekaette as a secret, but ekaette didn’t agree to it and wanted everyone to be aware we were dating.

 

I agreed with her, because at my age, i can’t Start hiding my relationship like a kid, my first ever relationship for that matter.

 

Ekaette had wanted me to make love to her while we were dating, but i just told her to be calm and let’s not be in a rush to eat the forbidden fruit.

 

Though she told me she was a virgin, but I was also a virgin too, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell her because I was ashamed, I was afraid she would mock me.

 

My relationship with ekaette was going smoothly, until i started noticing some weird behaviour from Kenneth.

 

He was beginning to get close to me which i found suspicious, and started asking me of my closeness with ekaette.

 

At first I was lying to Kenneth that I wasn’t dating ekaette.

 

But Kenneth kept pestering me to tell him the truth about my relationship with ekaette.

 

I thought it wise to tell Kenneth about my relationship with ekaette, because I felt it won’t be fair of me denying the woman I love, before my step brother.

 

Immediately i agreed to Kenneth that I was dating ekaette, he went back to his old self and started avoiding me.

 

I didn’t bothered to ask Kenneth why he suddenly stopped talking to me, because I knew that was his usual attitude towards me.

 

But unknown to me, Kenneth had a different plan, which would eventually break my relationship with ekaette.

 

One morning, i was informed by one of my course mate named nonso who we both hustled together, that there was a site close to the school that needed labourers.

 

Luckily for me we didn’t have class that day, so I quickly jumped on the offer, because I needed money to sort some pending bills for myself.

 

I quickly left the lodge that early morning to go and work at the site.

 

But before I left, i informed ekaette of where am going to, and she jokingly told me to buy her something when coming back, which I promised to do.

 

I got to the site with nonso, and we started working immediately.

 

When it was around 3pm, I decided to take a rest from working, then i brought out my phone from my pocket, so I could talk to ekaette.

 

I called ekaette up to six times, but she wasn’t picking my calls.

 

At some point she kept declining my calls and eventually blocked my number when my calls was too much.

 

I became alarmed and worried, because I couldn’t understand the reason behind why ekaette blocked my number.

 

And there was no other way i could reach her, so i could know if she was fine or not.

 

I tried calling Kenneth to help me check if ekaette was at her room, and if she was ok, but Kenneth wasn’t picking up his calls too.

 

I continued working, despite being unhappy about what ekaette did to me.

 

I finished my hustling for the day, and after collecting my payments, it turned out that the money was even more than what I needed it for.

 

So I took part of the money, and went straight to the market to get some nice dresses for ekaette.

 

After shopping, i went back to the school lodge, when I got to the room, i met Kenneth casually typing on his phone.

 

I didn’t have time to talk to him, so i briefly dropped the bag containing my working clothes.

 

And then i dashed towards ekaette’s room, with the the gifts i bought for her.

 

When I got to her door post, i kept knocking, but no one answered.

 

I continued knocking, believing ekaette was in her room, and doesn’t want to open the door.

 

Ekaette please open the door and talk to me, you are killing me slowly……. what have I done wrong?……I asked worriedly.

 

Suddenly ekaette opened the door, and i rushed into her room, giving her a hug, but she pushed me away like i was irritating to her.

 

Ekaette what happened, why all this strange behaviours towards me, did i do anything wrong to you?……….I asked panting hard.

 

Alex please just shut up, i trusted you, i gave you my heart and love, why did you betrayed me this way?……she said, with tears flowing down her eyes.

 

But ekaette am confused, how did i betrayed you, what have I done wrong?………I asked trying to go close to her but she stopped me.

 

Suddenly she brought out her phone, and showed me two test results containing my name and my mother’s name on each of them.

 

And the test results showed h*îv p0sitive on both of them.

 

My eyes widened in shock and surprise, because I wasn’t understanding what was going on.

 

Then again ekaette played a voice recording and to my bewilderment, I was the one talking on the voice recording.

 

I heard the voice which sounded like mine talking about how i was tired of my ailments.

 

My mouth opened in awe, words failed me and I just couldn’t wrap my head around what was going on.

 

Ekaette please, i still don’t understand all this you are showing me, please explain better to my understanding……….I pleaded.

 

You must be very stupid Alex, so you were infected with h*îv by your mother, and you didn’t deem it fit to let me know?…….. ekaette asked angrily.

 

Me infected with H*IV by my mother, who told you these lies?…….I asked in amazement.

 

Your brother Kenneth told me and he also told me your mother died from the disease………she responded.

 

Ekaette those are lies from the pit of hell, what he is saying are all lies, please don’t believe him………..I pleaded, going on my knees.

 

Alex you think am a fool right, okay let’s assume the test results was a lie, is the voice recording of you talking about your ailments, a lie too?……. ekaette fired back at the top of her voice.

 

Please ekaette, I don’t know what Kenneth must have said to you about me and my late mother, but one thing I know for sure is, he isn’t telling you the truth………I replied still pleading with ekaette.

 

Suddenly ekaette flared up and was pushing me out of her room, and when I didn’t want to leave, she threatened to accuse me of rape.

 

I left her room sadly with the gifts i bought for her because she rejected it.

 

I angrily got to my room and I started confronting Kenneth about the lies he told ekaette, against me and my late mother.

 

But to my surprise, Kenneth ran outside and was shouting at the top of his voice to the hearing of other students.

 

He claimed he doesn’t want me to infect ekaette with h*IV, and It got me wondering when I got h*IV.

 

I angrily got hold of Kenneth, and we started fighting, and then other students rushed to stop the fight between us.

 

Suddenly Kenneth started telling the students present there that I was h*iv positive, and my mother was the one who infl£cted me.

 

The whole students there was shocked, and some of them quickly moved far away from me.

 

To make matters worse, Kenneth brought out his phone, and played the same voice recording ekaette played to me earlier.

 

After the voice recording ended, i felt like just passing out because I was really weak.

 

Kenneth successfully tarnished my image before my fellow students and I was really pained.

 

I tried defending my self there with tears in my eyes, but none of them believed me.

 

One after the other the students left, and i was left alone with Kenneth, who also left to God knows where.

 

I sat down on the bare floor in front of the room I stayed with Kenneth, and I was crying my eyes out.

 

Then I started calling on the spirit of my dead mother to fight for me, because Kenneth had just insulted her even in death.

 

I was hopeless, shattered and broken, ekaette who was closet to my heart, had been told lies about me, and she believed without even confirming from me if it was true or not.

 

It hurts, my heart bleeds!!!!…….I exclaimed loudly.
