KENNETH’S POV
I ate my food quickly, because I was anxious to hear what Aisha has to say to me.
Though i was a bit nervous, but didn’t want to show it.
I was curious as to what’s so important that she wants to discuss with me, that is making her act weird.
Or was she already catching feelings for me, and didn’t know how to tell me?……I thought, almost laughing out loud.
Heaven knows if she tries asking me out, i would politely turn her down, i am married, and I wouldn’t want to cheat on my wife……….I thought.
I had longed finished eating, but Aisha was still there toiling with her food like she was a baby, and I was beginning to get impatient.
Seems you’ve lost your appetite?……i asked.
I don’t even know, I think you are right, i lost my appetite already…… she said sadly.
Immediately she said that, I didn’t waste time bargaining with her, i simply got hold of her plate of food, and drew it closer to myself.
Aisha looked at me amused, but I didn’t care, i can’t afford to allow her waste this sumptuous meal.
While I was eating aisha’s food, she opened the wine that was brought by the waiter earlier ago.
She turned some for herself and some for me, in the wine glasses brought for us, and she started sipping hers.
Within ten minutes, I was done eating aisha’s food, then i gulped down a glass of wine and poured myself another wine, from the wine bottle.
So what did you wanted us to discuss about?…….I asked, sipping my wine.
Aisha gave me a very long stare, like she was contemplating in her heart whether to say something or not.
Do you have a brother named Alex?…… she suddenly asked, fixing her gaze on me.
Immediately she asked that question, I splashed out the wine that I was sipping out of shock, causing a mess everywhere, then i started coughing.
Aisha quickly stood up from where she sat, and came towards me, rubbing my back gently.
I told her I was fine, then she went back to her seat, afterwards i picked a servette and wiped myself, and the table which was filled with spilled wine.
After i was done, Aisha repeated same question again.
I felt like I was now viewing my past in front of me, my heart began thumping loudly inside my chest, remembering how i treated Alex in the past.
Since Alex left the room we were both staying together year’s ago, i never heard of him again, nor set my eyes on him.
Ever since my parents died from that fire accident, i have been looking for alex to plead for his forgiveness, but I couldn’t see him.
I tried my best to forget about Alex and move on with my miserable life, but blood they said, is thicker than water, so I still couldn’t forget alex fully.
With each passing day, I pleaded with God to at least make me see Alex, even if it’s just for some minutes, so I can sincerely apologize to him.
I really wronged Alex so much, but it wasn’t really my fault, my mother brought me up to believe alex was my enemy, and I should treat him as such.
Now I have grown up to the stage of treating every human around me with respect, I now know better.
Kenneth, please, I need a sincere answer from you, do you have a brother named Alex?……… Aisha asked again, bringing me back to present.
Yes, I have a brother named Alex, but I haven’t seen him for years now…….I responded, bowing my head in shame and regret.
Is he the one?…… she asked, bringing her phone towards my face.
I stared at her phone, and behold, the photo of a familiar figure was staring back at me.
I quickly grabbed the phone from her, to take a closer look, if it was alex i was truly seeing, or my eyes were playing tricks on me.
To my shock and surprise, the person in the photo, was no other person than Alex.
Then I looked up from Aisha’s phone, and I saw her quietly watching my reactions.
Ho.ww..ww..ho.ww….dii…ii..dd y…ooo..uuu..fii..nn..dd…him……I asked, stuttering in fright.
Calm down Kenneth, take a deep breath, and please pay attention to what I have to say to you….. Aisha gently said bringing herself forward towards me, placing her hands on the table.
I’m his fiancée, and I discovered you were alex brother through your resemblance with him, and your surname too.
I stared at her for a while, then i returned her phone back to her, and listened with rapt attention, what she has to say to me.
Are you calm now?….. she asked staring at me with no single smile on her face.
Yes I am listening…….I responded, staring back at her.
Okay, look Kenneth, I am aware of everything that transpired between you and Alex, he told me everything, I tried talking him over to forget about the past and move on.
But he is hell bent on getting back at you because of the things you did to him in the past.
So how am i going to meet with Alex and apologize to him, yes I really wronged him in the past, and I am ready to make it up to him……..I said eagerly.
See Kenneth, this matter is more than just apologizing to your brother, we both have to work together to stop the revenge madness that has gotten to his brain…… she replied in a whisper.
Revenge madness??
Can you please emphasis more on that….I said, confused.
Some months ago, Alex told me he saw you and your family, I was happy thinking he made peace with you.
But then he told me he was going to revenge against you through your wife, because of how you snatched his first love from him called ekaette, year’s ago.
Suddenly Aisha paused, searching for any reactions on my face, but I signalled her to keep talking.
Presently Alex is responsible for your wife’s change of attitude towards you and the kids, he is also responsible for her business and lavish lifestyle……… she said.
You mean my brother was trying to get back at me through my wife?……..I asked sadly.
Yes, I and Alex ought to have been married by now, but he told me to give me some time to deal with you, before he could marry me.
Alex doesn’t want to have an affair with your wife, he only needed her attention away from you.
So my brother was the person my wife went to see some days ago?……I asked.
Yes they met last Sunday, but I was fast enough to ruin their date, i have been monitoring the both of them to make sure they don’t do anything stupid with themselves……… she said boastfully.
Well, I wouldn’t blame my brother much, i really humiliated him in the past, am glad he didn’t thought of killing me…….I responded with a bit of smile on my face.
We should team up and stop whatever plan’s Alex has with your wife, that way, you both will make peace with each other.
You will have your wife back, while I get married to Alex, your brother.
That’s a very nice idea, so where do we begin from?……I asked.
Currently your wife is planning to see alex at his house, since the first date didn’t work out.
You will have to monitor your wife’s movement, the day she would leave the house to come see Alex, you should inform me immediately, then we would both pay Alex a visit together, and end everything once and for all.
Wow, you are such a genius, i just can’t wait to meet with my brother, am sure he will forgive me, he has a good heart……..I responded.
Sure he will, with the few months i have known Alex, he has been an angel to me, not until he saw you, and started looking for revenge…….. Aisha replied, rolling her eyes at me.
We both laughed and discussed briefly about other things, and then we left the eatery.
Aisha drove me home, but I told her to stop me a bit far from my house so that no one from my compound would see me.
Before I left Aisha car, she sent some money to my account for my upkeeps and to get a phone that I can use in communicating with her, she also gave me her card.
I got down from her car holding the two fancy bags containing the clothes Aisha bought for me earlier.
She waved me goodbye, and I drove off, then i stood watching her car until it was out of sight.
I strolled home beaming with smile, i felt overwhelmed with so much Joy in my heart.
Probably because I would soon be reunited with my brother, I am glad the lord finally answered my prayers of requesting to see my brother, so that I can make peace with him.
