EPISODE 40

 

AISHA’S POV

 

The next morning, i woke up as early as possible so I would go to the hospital, and check if the young man my car hit the previous day, had regained consciousness.

 

Few minutes after 7am, I was done dressing, then I left my room in a hurry and quietly, so my dad won’t see me, and Start questioning my movement that morning.

 

I got out of the house without anyone noticing, then i drove out of the house.

 

While driving, I thought it wise to buy some fruits and beverages for the young man, incase he wakes up tired and hungry.

 

Then I stopped by at a shopping mall to do some little shopping.

 

I brought some fruit juice, bread, biscuits, chocolate and milk, butter, fruity jam, apples, banana, grapefruit and some bottle water.

 

I even added a get well soon scented flower bouquet, and “I’m sorry”card, so I would at least apologize to him with it, for driving roughly and hitting him.

 

I payed for everything i bought, then i left the shopping mall with a light smile on my face.

 

I got to the hospital and requested to see doctor Samuel, but I was told he hasn’t yet arrived.

 

Then I asked a doctor to show me the ward where the guy that was brought in by me the previous day was.

 

The doctor showed me the ward and then he left, leaving me alone in front of the doorpost that led to the room the young man was.

 

I said a little prayer within myself, then made the sign of the cross, and with a heavy heart, i slowly opened the door, then I peeped into the room first before going in.

 

I met the guy was still unconscious, but he was breathing fine, then I heaved a sigh of relief and then i fully got into the room and then closed the door behind me.

 

I walked up to him, and stared at him closely, wishing he could just opened his eyes, so we can talk.

 

Though doctor Samuel assured me that he would be conscious within 24hours, but i just couldn’t wait till then, i wanted him to just open his eyes, so I would be sure he is safe and alright.

 

The young man needs to be back on his feet to meet his family if he has any.

 

I didn’t find any phone on him that I could have used in reaching out to any of his family or close friends, am sure they must of been worried about his whereabouts by now.

 

It broke my heart to realize i almost cut short the life of someone, because I was thinking about that foolish Alex.

 

I promise you Alex, you will beg to have me back, by then it’s too late, then i will make you feel what I’m feeling now…….I thought, wiping tears from my eyes, with the back of my Palm.

 

Then I carefully arranged everything i bought earlier on the table, afterwards i sat close to the table, watching the young man lying unconsciously on the bed.

 

I noticed he looked a lot like Alex, but he was a bit lighter and younger than Alex, or was it my imagination playing tricks on me?……..I thought, being confused.

 

Probably because I was thinking too much about alex, that’s why this young man is beginning to look like him in front of me.

 

But on a second thought, I saw other people on my way here, and none of them looked like Alex, so why is this young man the only one looking like alex before my eyes.

 

Or was he that his brother that he was talking about, called Kenneth?…….I gasped in surprise.

 

No Aisha, stop stressing your brain, this young man might not be related to Alex you know, different people look alike, and they aren’t related……..I said aloud, in a whisper.

 

But i will still have to find out if he is truly related to Alex, let’s take it up from there…….I said with a smirk on my face.

 

I noticed i bacame somehow happy, with the new discovery, but at the same time, I told myself not to be too happy, the young man might not even be related to Alex.

 

Just then, doctor Samuel walked in with some nurses, and checked everything about the young man.

 

Doctor Samuel, first of all checked his heartbeat with his stethoscope.

 

Then he poured a liquid capsule in the guy’s mouth, he instructed the nurse to change the drip, which was almost dried up.

 

After the new drip was fixed, he then injected the drip, making it turned from transparent, to yellow.

 

The nurses opened the bandage dress that was on the young man’s head and cleaned up the injury he sustained the previous day from my knock down.

 

After they were done cleaning the wound, they dressed it up again.

 

Doctor Samuel assured me that the guy would regain consciousness few hours time, and then he left with the nurses.

 

After they left, i continued staring at the unconscious guy, and I couldn’t help but notice the resemblance with alex again, it was just too obvious.

 

My eyes went straight to a book on the table, it was a book on health care and the body organs.

 

I love reading books a lot, so I picked the book up reading it, so as to keep myself busy, while waiting for him to regain consciousness.

 

After over an hour of reading, i was already dosing off, when I heard someone coughing gently.

 

I instantly jumped up from my slumber, staring at the guy who was now awake, and coughing gently.

 

I became confused instantly, i didn’t know what to do, and I ran out of the room, to inform doctor Samuel that he was now awake.

 

Then Doctor Samuel followed me to the ward, he held a file in his hands, which i knew was for the guy.

 

Hello young man, good afternoon……. doctor Samuel greeted, staring at him closely.

 

Good afternoon doctor……he replied almost in a whisper.

 

How are you feeling now, do you have any pain?……. doctor Samuel asked.

 

I am feeling a heavy headache, and some numbness in my knees…….he replied slowly.

 

What are your name’s?…… doctor Samuel asked, writing on the file he brought with him earlier.

 

My name is Kenneth……he replied.

 

Kenneth what, i mean your father’s name please?…….. doctor Samuel asked, still writing on the file.

 

Kenneth nwachukwu…….he responded.

 

Immediately i heard “Kenneth nwachukwu”, I felt my whole body cringe in shock, because Alex surname was also “nwachukwu”.

 

Then i got convinced that this guy present here that I was looking at, who i knocked down the previous day, was no other person than Alex blood brother, who he was planning a revenge against.

 

It’s okay, you will be fine, we will prescribe some drúgs to you for that, you just have to eat something now, in other for you to take your drugs……… doctor Samuel said calmly.

 

Okay doctor, thank you so much for saving my life……he said gently.

 

We give glory to God, please Aisha, follow me….. doctor Samuel said, referring to me.

 

I followed him silently to his office, when we got to his office, he quickly wrote some drúgs on a piece of paper, and passed it to me to go and get them at the pharmacy area of the hospital.

 

I quickly rushed downstairs in a haste, and gave them the paper which the drugs i needed was written on.

 

The pharmacist brought out all the drug’s prescribed by doctor Samuel, then he package them and gave them to me, i made payment, and left there in a hurry, going back to meet Kenneth.

 

By the time i got to the room, i met he was already sitting up on the bed, he saw me and quickly turned his face away like he was sad.

 

Then I went straight to the table, and picked the flower bouquet I bought earlier, and also the I’m sorry card.

 

I knelt down close to the bed, and apologized sincerely from my heart and also pleaded with him to accept the flower and card.

 

He quickly asked me to stand up, telling me he wasn’t even unhappy with me, he was only sad about his kids, and how they would doing, during his absence.
